It’s Sosti-xmaaaassss!

Of course, like the rest of the nation we’ll be settling down this holiday season with those year-in-year-out Christmas movie favourites: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989), The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964), and Emmet Otter’s Jug-band Christmas (1977).

But is that enough to fill the void? Probably not, now that your Suffolk cottage getaway and associated country gastro-pub plan has been literally made illegal. Christmas Eve is of course the riskiest time, linked as it is with the vile emetic that Miranda’s Games with Showbiz Names promises to be.

Don’t be afraid, the answer lies with Il Cinema Sostituto’s virtualisation of a Christmas Eve tradition treasured by your programmers. Building on such doubtful triumphs as Sun Valley Serenade (1941) and Holiday Affair (1949), this year it looks like we have an absolute Sosti-xmas cracker.

Check out the screening page for the full details, and if you are on our list look out for email information of how to access both the movie and the ‘In the Square’ Zoom chat that links us to our fellow human beings.
